Yes! Salicylic acid use over the counter is quite common. All the products in the Stuff That Works® range, including Light Routine® Gentle, have been carefully curated for use by individuals without consulting with a dermatologist. These are DIY products that are meant to be used at the comfort of your home. These products are classified as cosmeceutical home peels
Salicylic acid application is pretty simple. The Light Routine® Gentle salicylic acid treatment should be used once weekly for 8 to 10 weeks. First, cleanse your skin properly with a gentle cleanser and allow the skin to dry completely. Now follow through with a gentle application of Light Routine® Gentle salicylic acid. Pour about 2-3 drops of the peel onto your palm and gently apply a single coat of the product evenly over the face and the neck. Start with the forehead, proceed to your cheeks and finish with the central face. The application time should not exceed 30 seconds. Wash off the product with cold water after 60 seconds. Avoid getting the product on the lips and around the eyes. Use a gentle cleanser and ensure complete removal of the product. Make sure your cleanser is mild and does not contain any hydroxy acids. Applying salicylic acid should be gentle, avoid rubbing, as this can lead to patchy and uneven penetration of the product. Use the Ice Lolly or an ice cube to cool down the area for 1-2 minutes for the tingling sensation to subside completely.

No, we do NOT recommend having other creams/ peels/serums/ home remedies, while you are getting started with the Light Routine® regimen. The Light Routine® is a high-performance home peel, which goes best with a good sunscreen regimen, and a gentle, appropriate face wash. You may introduce a vitamin C serum later, once you are confident that your skin is comfortable with the home peel.
Store Light Routine® Gentle in a cool, dry, dark place and keep away from direct sunlight. If you have taken out an excess of product, do not try to put it back into the bottle. This will end up inactivating the entire product. We recommend that you dry your hands thoroughly before using the product, as moisture will make it unfit for use.
The best time to use the peel is at bedtime so that you can allow your skin to rest overnight. If you are someone who works night shifts, you can schedule your peel just before you go to sleep.
We do not recommend steaming the face when you are on a Light Routine® program.
Light Routine® is conceived as a stand-alone treatment. It's best not to have other similar products in your regimen. The best way to go forward is to use the Light Routine® as a solo therapy with your sunscreen and face wash, if you do not have any skin regimen to start with. If you are on any skin regimen with your Dermatologist, check with him/ her before using the Light Routine®. Please also note that, if you are on a skin regimen containing hydroquinone-based products, withdrawal should be completed over 6-8 weeks before getting on to the Light Routine®.
