There are two simple tips that you must follow when using an anti dandruff shampoo. The first tip is to understand that the product is meant for the scalp and not the hair. Accordingly, you must use your anti dandruff shampoo on the scalp and not on the hair!

Since the best performing anti dandruff products are customized to work on the scalp and usually have a higher pH, they do not provide the best conditioning benefits for the hair. Therefore, you may find that your hair is rough when you use only an anti dandruff shampoo most of the time.
This is kind of easy to understand when your anti dandruff product has a name like Arcolane scalp solution you intuitively know that you must leave this product on the scalp, and you probably will need additional cleansing shampoos for the hair. So you use this anti dandruff lotion on the scalp, wait for a few minutes, and then wash out all of the scalp and the hair with another conditioning shampoo!
Where it is not so easy to understand is when your product carries a name like Bioderma Node DS+ Shampoo! Since it is mentioned as an anti dandruff shampoo, we understand that there is some cleansing and maybe some conditioning also available. However, since the dandruff is on the scalp, you will still need to allow some contact time on the scalp, even with this shampoo. On washing out the product, assess how your hair feels. If you experience any frizziness or excessive dryness of the hair, you may still need to follow the same method as for the Arcolane scalp lotion. Use the anti dandruff shampoo on the scalp for a few minutes, and then wash it out using a regular shampoo.
Always condition the hair after every wash- you need this with regular shampoos, but you cannot skip this when you use an antidandruff solution, which is known to frizz out the hair!
