CHOSEN
to Thrive

There is a lot that goes into building a good medical practice that we were never taught in medical school. CHOSEN to Thrive brings dermatologists together to learn about some of it — from people who know it well, and from each other.

01 About Thrive

Good medicine is more than a diagnosis

How do you decide what kind of practice you want to build? How do people find you? When do you need help? How do you build the right team around you? And how do you navigate the many responsibilities that come with running a practice?

Most doctors learn these things along the way. CHOSEN to Thrive brings dermatologists together to learn about some of them — from people who know them well, and from each other. Each THRIVE session takes up one practical aspect of practice, with a larger idea behind it.

Good medicine is not only about treating a disease. It is about taking care of the person who comes to you.

And everything around the consultation — people, processes, communication and responsible practice — can contribute to that experience. That is the idea CHOSEN to Thrive keeps coming back to, session after session.

Why this matters

Behind every practice, the systems that keep it dependable

Good care depends on more than what happens during a consultation. Behind every medical practice are responsibilities that help it remain dependable — good systems, appropriate documentation, regulatory compliance and responsible financial management.

THRIVE 4 brings in experts in finance, taxation and compliance to help dermatologists understand this part of practice better — not with a focus on revenue or profitability, but on responsibility, good governance and building practices that can maintain their standards of care over time.

The Shape of Practice

There is no one right way to build a medical practice. THRIVE 1 explored the different shapes a practice can take, and the choices that influence how doctors work, how teams come together and how people experience their care.

Your Practice Online

Today, the experience of seeking medical care often begins with a search. THRIVE 2 was a practical session on Google Business Profile — keeping information accurate and making it easier for people to find the care they need.

Getting the Right Kind of Help

Being good at what you do doesn't mean having to do everything yourself. THRIVE 3 explored recognising when help is needed, finding the right people, and building support around a growing practice.

04 Why CHOSEN does Thrive

Taking care of the person, not just treating the disease

CHOSEN grew from dermatology practice. Many of the questions we ask, the problems we work on and the way we think about skin have been shaped by years spent in clinics and by our continuing conversations with the dermatology community.

There is valuable knowledge outside clinical medicine that can make the journey of running a practice easier. Sometimes that knowledge sits with another doctor, an accountant, a lawyer, a technology expert, or someone from an entirely different field. THRIVE brings that knowledge together.

We don't expect doctors to know everything. We do believe that knowing what to ask, and learning from each other, can make all of us better at what we do.

That leaves more room for what medicine has always been about.
